Not satisfied with an additional counter filed by P Paul Pandian, Commissioner of Fisheries Development, without the time frame for National Policy on Marine Fisheries as directed, Madras High Court on Wednesday directed the central government senior standing counsel to answer it on the next date of hearing. If he does not get instructions, the Joint Secretary of the Department should be present in the court on January 17, the bench of Chief Justice SK Kaul and Justice M Sundar warned. The bench gave the direction when a PIL from Fisherman Care seeking to implement the recommendations of P Murari Committee to protect the lives of fishing community came up before it.
