In order to strengthen food production through fisheries and aquaculture in Venezuela, more than 100,000 fingerlings of different species have been added so far this year to various water bodies of water in Lara, Merida and Tachira.

The fish added include rainbow trout and black pacu, which have characteristics suitable for survival without altering the ecosystem. Around six months after introduction these fish should reach an average weight of 300 grams, ideal for human consumption.

These species come from the nursery stations in the states of Trujillo, Mérida, Táchira, Guarico and Anzoategui, which are dedicated to assisting the process of reproduction of fish species in captivity.
