Korea and China have agreed on the number of Korean vessels that can enter China’s exclusive economic zone next year.
The Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries on Tuesday said up to 1,600 Korean ships will be allowed in the Chinese EEZ in 2013 and they will be permitted to catch up to a combined 60,000 tons of fish.
The ministry added that Chinese vessels will in turn be subject to the same regulations in Korea’s EEZ.
The two countries reached the agreement at the recent 12th session of the bilateral Joint Fishery Committee.
