Maldives is one of the world’s most geographically dispersed countries, as well as the smallest Asian country by both land area and population, with a little over 393,500 inhabitants. Fishing is a key source of livelihoods in the Maldives, fishing families and beneficiaries accounting for almost 10% of the entire population. The pole and line method used to catch tuna by fishermen in the Maldives is both environmentally and socially sustainable, enabling these island communities to live well within the limits of nature. Lets watch the following video whereby these bait free hook fishermen use to catch their fish. One man, one hook, one fish, truly amazing!
