Morocco’s Minister of Agriculture and Sea Fisheries Aziz Akhannouch held talks in Tokyo with Japanese minister of Agriculture, Forests and Fisheries Koya Nishikawa on means of promoting cooperation and boosting trade in the fields of agriculture and sea fisheries.

During this meeting, Akhannouch highlighted the Kingdom’s potential in the fields of agriculture and sea fisheries and the momentum which marks these two sectors thanks to Morocco’s national strategies in agriculture (Green Morocco Plan, PMV) and in sea fisheries (Halieutis), said Thursday a statement of the ministry.

Moroccan minister stressed on this occasion the important development, both in terms of quantity and quality, of national agricultural and fishery products, underlining significant improvement of the country’s business climate particularly in these two sectors, the same source added.

The two officials expressed their readiness to endorse all initiatives aimed at promoting Moroccan- Japanese cooperation in these two vital sectors, boosting the volume of trade and facilitating access of Moroccan products to the Japanese market.

Japan is a promising market for several Moroccan products, including citrus fruits, olives, argan oil and seafood, the statement concluded.
