Myanmar Fisheries Federation and Fisheries Products Processors and Exporters Association stated that Myanmar targeted to achieve export value of US$700 million from fisheries exports in the 2024-2025 financial year (from April 2024 to March 2025).
Myanmar ships fisheries to foreign trade partners through three ways of exports by road, ship and air.
“We have reported to the authorities that fisheries export value is expected to meet $735 million for the current FY. Fisheries exports have bagged $521 million so far. We are not sure whether the income will reach $200 million in the last quarter or not. The average earnings from fisheries exports is around $65 million. Export value might fall short of the target a bit. The main trade channel is by ship. Then, it is also exported by air, mostly to China. The export at the border is not that high. They are sent to Thailand via Kawthoung-Ranong and Myawady border posts,” said an official of MFF and MFPPEA.
Myanmar’s fisheries exports swelled to $521 million between April and December of the current FY. They are primarily shipped to China, Thailand, Japan, European countries and neighbouring countries.
