The aquaculture industry in Norway is in favour of the government’s proposed sale of 45 new “green” salmon licenses in 2013.

“Aquaculture is currently the food production with the least environmental footprint, and we welcome measures that may make the industry even better,” says Sveinung Sandvik for FHL.

The Fisheries and Aquaculture Industry Association believes that Norway has the best foundation for increasing food production through aquaculture.

The association announced that the sale of new licenses will contribute to growth and increased production, which is in line with the need for increased supply to markets in over 100 countries.

FHL supports the government’s ambition to make Norway the world’s leading seafood nation, and that growth in the supply and production of seafood must be responsibly.
