A modern fish market will be set up in Pandra on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar. The market will be worth Rs 50 crore and will be spread over 5.80 acres land.

As per reports, a grant of Rs 50 crore has been sanctioned for setting up a modern fish market on 5.80 acres of land near Pandra on the outskirts of the capital city in Khordha district.

After the consent of Odisha government, this project had been sent to the Centre for approval. The Center has approved this project from the Ministry of Fisheries and Animal Husbandry and Dairying of India.

A political slugfest has been witnessed over sanction of this modern fish market. Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sadangi mentioned about this in an X post on her handle. In the post, she said that she had approached Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi in September 2024 for setting up of a modern fish market. Accordingly, a detailed report was prepared to establish the market in Pandra over 5.80 acre land and things were carried forward. On the other hand Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das argued that the groundwork for this project was initiated by the previous government in 2023.
