Pakistan has been ranked the 8th most vulnerable country to climate change in the Global Climate Risk Index Report, posing a serious threat to food security, said Vice Chancellor (VC) University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan. He was addressing the 17th four-week workshop organised by the Professional Training and Skill Development Center UAF for officers of the Punjab Agriculture Department on Wednesday.

The session is about “Finance, Administration, Management and e-Governance” on Wednesday. VC UAF said that weather patterns have been in constant flux, with shifting monsoons, delayed winters, and intense heat waves adding to the uncertainty. Speaking on the occasion, Professional Training and Skill Development Center Director Dr Mahmood A. Randhawa said agricultural development was directly linked to poverty alleviation. “It is the need of the hour to ensure that farmers have access to the latest technology, in which ‘we have to play an important role’.
