Seventeen Indian fishermen were arrested as the Maritime Security Agency (MSA) seized three fishing boats on Thursday for trespassing into Pakistan’s territorial waters. According to the MSA, the Indian boats had crossed over approximately 800 kilometers inside Pakistan’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). All the arrested crew members were hand over to the Docks police station for further investigation and processing. On March 31, the agency had apprehended 59 Indian fishermen and seized 10 fishing vessels. Those arrests had come a week after Pakistani authorities had released 86 fishermen, which was the second time in a month as earlier, on March 6, 86 more Indian fishermen had also been repatriated. The goodwill gesture had been reciprocated in spirit by Indian authorities too as Pakistani fishermen held across the border had also been sent back.
