The police filed cases against four fishermen who were caught in the act of using dynamites while fishing off shore Zamboanga del Sur, a police official said.

Charged for violation of Republic Act 8550 (The Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998) are Jart Pasague, 27; Jeson Villanueva, 28; Allen Quidevida, 19 — all residents of San Pablo, Zamboanga del Sur; and Alejandro Bayson, 25, of Pagadian City.

The suspects were arrested around 12 p.m. Thursday, according to Senior Police Officer 3 Reynante Paeste of San Pablo Municipal Police Station.

Paeste said they were conducting seaborne patrol when chanced upon the suspects exploding dynamites while fishing near the shore of Culasian village, San Pablo town.

Confiscated from the suspects’ possession were four pieces blasting caps, four boxes of matches, one roll thread, a compressor machine with 70 pathoms length of hose and one unit of 13-horse power Vanguard engine, Paeste said.
