South Korea plans to send North Korean fishermen found drifting in South Korean waters back to the communist country, a military official said Tuesday.
Eom Hyo-shik, spokesman for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said in a regular briefing that processes are underway to repatriate the North Koreans and their fishing boat to the North.
He said the North Koreans expressed their wish to South Korean military officials that they want to return to their homeland.
Still, he did not provide a specific time frame or any details of the fishermen.
The North Korean fishing boat was found drifting in the eastern South Korean waters on Monday afternoon due to an engine problem.
