The ministry of fisheries says 150 thousand kilogrammes of fish have been exported to European countries from the first to the 10th of this month. 36 fishing industries have recommenced their fish production again which was inactivated during the European ban on local fish export. An evaluation meeting was held with the participation of minister Mahinda Amaraweera at his ministry yesterday in this regard. He also stressed on the need to enhance fish related produce, as there is a high demand for local fish in the international market. The government is ready to provide necessary facilities to meet the international demand. An income of fish exports is expected 20 million rupees by the end of next year.
