The All Ceylon General Fisheries Federation says that over 50,000 fishermen from the North are facing difficulties following the arrival of Indian fishing trawlers. National Organiser of All Ceylon General Fishermen’s Federation Rathna Gamage alleged that over 6000 Indian vessels are used for poaching in Sri Lankan waters. Rathna Gamage also added that steps are being taken to file a petition to the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka on Monday regarding the difficulties the fishermen of the North face due fishing activities conducted by Indian Fishermen in Sri Lanka waters.
