Lanka IOC Company has sought to set up fuel depots at fisheries harbours. The IOC management has told Fisheries Minister Douglas Devananda that it could supply fuel at a concessionary rate to fishermen if it was permitted to build fuel depots in fisheries harbours.
According to a press release issued by the Fisheries Ministry, the IOC has said so when Minister Devananda asked the Indian government enterprise whether it could supply diesel at a price lower than the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) which now maintains fuel depots in fisheries harbours. The Lanka IOC has offered to supply a litre of diesel at Rs 351. Minister Devananda has stressed the need to reach a consensus in this regard without causing unnecessary friction with the CPC. (SF).
