Korean Ambassador Santhush Woonjin Jeong this week met with Fisheries Minister Douglas Devananda at the Ministry of Fisheries, Colombo.
During the meeting, Korean Ambassador Santhush recalled the recent commitment to invest around $ 1.2 million by the Ministry of Fisheries of Korea to help improve shrimp farming in Sri Lanka through the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation.
He stated that Korea is keen to boost shrimp farming in the island nation. They also discussed ways to promote exports, expand capacity-building and develop the fisheries industry in Sri Lanka. Both parties underscored the importance of strengthening the aquaculture sector in Sri Lanka and agreed to work closely together to deepen cooperation.
