The naval and fishing communities are requested to be attentive as the sea areas off the coasts extending from Kankesanthurai to Puttalam via Mannar and from Hambantota to Pottuvil will be very rough, the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre said.
While issuing an advisory for strong winds and rough seas until 7a.m tomorrow, they said, the wind speed in the said sea areas will be 70 kmph.
Meanwhile, the sea areas off the coasts extending from Trincomalee to Kankesanthurai via Allaitivu
and Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle will be rough with strong winds up to 55 kmph.
Wave heights may increase to 2.5 m in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kalpitiya to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota.
