No decision has been taken or would be taken to allow Indian fishermen to engage in fishing in Sri Lankan waters two days a week as claimed by a certain trade union, Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said. Participating in the Wewak Samaga Gamak development programme held near the Muruthawek reservoir, the minister categorically denied as false a statement to this effect that Indian fishermen have been allowed to fish in Sri Lanka waters two days a week, made to the media by a certain trade union. Let alone two days, Indian fishermen would not be allowed to enter Sri Lankan waters for even a minute, Amaraweera said.
