Global Ceylon Seafood (Pvt) Ltd will be leased a 150 hectare area in Koddiyar in Sri Lanka’s Trincomalee district for a commercial aquaculture project. The cabinet has approved a proposal by Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resource Development Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, the state information office said. The firm plans to culture pompano, moda (a type of sea bass) and kossa (a species of grouper). The firm is a joint venture between Continental Ceylon Seafood (Pvt) Ltd of Sri Lanka and Continental Ceylon Seafood A.S of Norway.
