Sri Lanka will seek private investments to start joint ventures at fishery including tourism services which will increase commercial activities at fishery harbours around the island. The new ventures will be set up with international and domestic investors and the fishery community. Diversifying into new commercial activities will expand jobs at harbours and anchorages and also create entrepreneurs among fishing communities, a proposal by Fisheries Minister Mahinda Amaraweera approved by the cabinet of ministers said. In addition to activities aimed at adding value to the fish catch, and boat building and repair services, investments will also be sought for tourism services
