The state government on Monday issued orders increasing the monthly assistance given to fishermen during the fishing ban period from 5,000 to 8,000.
The scheme, which was launched in 2001, aims at helping around 1.79 lakh fishing families that reside along the 14 coastal districts in the state, said an official release.
