Three firshermen were seriously injured when an Indian Coast Guard hovercraft rammed a fishing boat off Pamban coast in Tamil Nadu. One of the fishermen remains critical. As a result of the collision, the fishing boast capsized and the fishermen were caught under it. They were later rescued. The Indian coast guard confirmed this incident and tweeted that a small fishing boat ‘village’ collided with its hovercraft at sea off Pamban. ICG also claimed that the crew was safe and salvaging process was in progress. However, the injured fishermen had a different version. “We were fishing off the coast near Pambam. We saw the hovercraft approaching us. We frantically waived at them to stop. But it collided with our boat and it capsized” said Nagendran. This is reportedly the second such incident. Previously, two fishermen had alleged that Indian Coast Guard shot at them. They even presented a bullet cartridge as a proof which led to enquiry into the incident.
