More and more consumers in the city seem to want to avoid haggling over fish prices with fish vendors and instead are ordering seafood online. There are at least half a dozen Chennai-based websites where orders can either be placed a day before or on the same day. We door deliver cleaned fresh fish to houses that are within a five km radius of fish stalls in Teynampet, Nandanam, Anna Nagar, Santhome and Chitlapakkam. Orders can be placed even on Sundays. The TNFDC has five permanent and 15 mobile fresh fish stalls in the city that sell fish worth ? 50 to 80 lakh in a month. The Ennore’s Seafood site is over two years old and gets over 1,000 orders a month. With 11 delivery hubs throughout the city, they deliver up to Ambattur, Guduvanchery and Ennore. Fish orders are to be placed a day ahead and orders are delivered by 10 a.m. the next day. Chennai has become a cosmopolitan city with a lot of foreign residents as well.
