Animal Husbandry Ministry Talasani Srinivas Yadav has called upon the members of caste-based communities to register their names with the respective societies to avail the benefits being extended by the Government for their betterment. The Minister who held a review meeting with the department officials here on Tuesday said that Telangana Government had embarked on extending welfare and economic assistance programmes to fishermen, dairy farmers, sheep rearers and others at an unprecedented scale. Capacity building A special enrolment drive would be launched to generate awareness and encourage members of various communities pursuing traditional vocations to join respective societies. Government would also invest in skill training to members of these societies to enable them earn decent income from their vocations. Briefing mediapersons later, Mr.Srinivas Yadav said to give boost to the fisheries and marketing of fish, Collectors were asked to identify suitable places for locating five fish markets in each district. Two fisheries institutes would also be set up in the State soon, he said. An action plan had been drawn up to take up fish farming in every water body in the State in the coming days and focus would be on fish exports. Thus government would give priority for filling vacancies in the fisheries department and improving infrastructure for storage, marketing and market outlets. The Animal Husbandry department would launch 100 vehicles by April to be able to access members of various societies. A large number of Vijaya dairy Telangana outlets would be set up at tourist places, temples and highways. The services of Gopala Mitras’ to guide dairy farmers would be utilised extensively, he said.
