A total of 14 respondents from three major locations, Srikakulam, BCV Palem and Visakhapatnam responded to the survey. They spoke both for themselves and for their groups. They migrate to Malpe (Karnataka), Paradeep (Odisha) and Veraval (Gujarat) working as crew in mechanised boats. Almost all have worked in all three locations. All
the fishermen are from Andhra Pradesh. In general, they go because of better wages/ income. The migration is largely fuelled by family/ kinship contacts.
