The consultation confirmed the importance of small-scale fisheries in the Near East and North Africa region as a contributor to poverty alleviation, food security and nutrition, and economic development. It also confirmed the importance of the SSF Guidelines as a tool for supporting securing sustainable small-scale fisheries governance and development.
