This newsletter, No.10, has a write-up of the annual general meeting held in June 2008 at Arcachon, France. It also carries reports of member organizations of AKTEA, elaborating on the activities carried out in the various countries in Europe where they are active.

The Women in Fisheries Information Bulletin (No. 19) of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) is available at http://www.spc.int/coastfish/News/WIF/WIF19/index.htm

This bulletin discusses issues related to women’s fishing and women’s contributions to sustaining households. The articles include reports on two unique forms of fisheries: one on octopus fishing by the women of Lofanga, Tonga, and one on sea hare fishery in Fiji Islands. There is also a report on the results of a study of gender roles in the coastal fisheries across seventeen Pacific Island countries and territories, as well as an article on changes in subsistence fishing activities and seafood consumption.
