Abstract: The objectives of the SSF Guidelines are to be achieved through the promotion of a human rights-based approach (HRBA) by empowering small-scale fishing communities to participate in decision-making processes and to assume responsibilities for sustainable use of fishery resources
HRBA: Furthering the realization of human rights principles and standards as laid down in UDHR and in other international human rights instruments
International human rights principles: All human rights are universal and inalienable, indivisible and interdependent and interrelated; equal and without any discrimination; full participation and inclusion; transparency, accountability and rule of law; respect of cultures
